The British Shorthair is the pedigreed version of the traditional British domestic cat, with a distinctively chunky body, dense coat and broad face.
The British Shorthair was Britain’s first pedigree cat and still most popular cat breeds in the UK. The breed was said to have been brought over to Britain by the Romans hundreds of years ago and bred with wild native cats and later Persian cats which brought the British Shorthair its thicker coat.
The British Shorthair’s thick dense coat gives it its character.
